Scottish Landscape Videos
I like to make short videos of places I visit, mainly using timelapse techniques.
I’m still learning – any hints and tips appreciated.
I regularly post videos of my antics on Instagram and Vimeo

Birgit Lane – Birthday Trilogy (Trollogy?)
Declan Lunny and I made these 3 videos for a special birthday of our former boss, mentor and great friend Birgit Lane. Music by me, wrods by Deccy. Since Birgit is ethnically Norwegian, Dec did some of it in her ancestral language.
The trilogy is called “ny vår” or in English, “new spring”
Part 1: “solloppgang” = “spring”
Part 2: “rolig sjø “ = “calm sea”
Part 3: “midnattsol” = “midnight sun”
Misty Moments
Sea mist (haar) drifting westwards along the Minch.
FIlmed 5x timelapse from the cliffs at Leacan Donna, Mellon Charles, Wester Ross.
Canon M3 video, 18-200 mm zoom lens.
Music: Excerpt from “Gitardjamm”, by Sigur Rós.
The Coigach “Volcano”
The Coigach mountains seen from the hills above Mellon Charles, Wester Ross.
Foreground is bog cotton (aka cottongrass).
The chirping birds are meadow pipits.
Canon M3 video, 200 mm zoom lens, 12x timelapse; Zoom H5 audio recording. 20th June 2020.
Cotton Tops
2020 saw an unusually large crop of bog cotton (aka cottongrass) across the Scottish Highlands.
I've certainly never witnessed such a display of it in all my years as a card-carrying bog man.
This patch was right beside the ruins of Slaggan deserted village, Wester Ross.
I think the chirping bird is a meadow pippit.
Canon M3 video 18-200 mm zoom lens; Zoom H5 audio recorder. 18th June 2020.
Peace in Stereo
Slaggan Bay, Wester Ross, June 2020
Stereo sound at last! Parallel recording with a wind-proof recorder synched to camera.
A great improvement, especially through headphones or good speakers.
Canon M3, 18-200 zoom lens, live action; Zoom H5 audio recorder, 18th June 2020.
Drifting Home
A fishing boat slowly drifting across the Minch and coming to a stop just off Slaggan Bay.
Canon M3 timelapse.
Music: Amber Light by Irwin McLean.
A minute of chill
Slaggan Bay, Wester Ross, May 2020
Low angle using my new mini-tripod, allowing me to get the camera only a couple of inches off the ground.
I especially like the little wave tops lit by the sun, as it sets over Lewis and Harris.
Canon M3 video, 18-200 zoom lens.
